About Stack Ranked
There are thousands of AI tools launching every month. Most rankings you find online are sponsored, untested, or written by people who watched a demo and called it a review.
We do it differently. Every tool we rank gets used on a real task first — writing a client proposal, editing a podcast, building an automation, generating ad creative. If we can't get it to produce something useful in a reasonable amount of time, it doesn't make the list.
Who we write for
We write for three types of readers:
- Freelance professionals — writers, designers, marketers, and developers who bill by the project and need tools that save hours without a steep learning curve.
- Small business owners — running lean operations with 1–10 people who need automation that doesn't require a technical hire.
- Solo creators — YouTubers, course creators, newsletter writers, and Etsy sellers who create content and run a business at the same time.
Our ranking standard
Every list is scored on the same four criteria:
- Real-workflow test — we define a specific task and measure actual output quality.
- Value for money — free tier quality matters as much as paid tier price.
- Replaces-multiple-tools score — one tool replacing three subscriptions ranks above a one-trick specialist at the same price.
- Learning curve — time to first useful output. Solo operators can't spend a week onboarding.
